On your first visit to our practice you can expect::

  • The cause of your condition to be clarified
  • An explanation of the treatment options available for your condition
  • To be directed in and have explained the expected outcomes of a specifically designed problem management program
  • Advice on how to prevent your injury/probem from recurring
  • If necessary, refer you to a specialist for further assessment and advice.




Freedom Physio & Pilates was established in 1986 as Bellarine Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic. The practice was acquired by Joshua Hayter in November 2000. In May 2002 Clinical Pilates was introduced with resounding success. Acupuncture has since also been added to our repertoire. In August 2004, Freedom Physio & Pilates was born, with the addition of a second practice in the Melbourne suburb of Sunshine.

JOSHUA HAYTER
Physiotherapist
Joshua graduated from La Trobe University in 1995. His early career included sports medicine in Melbourne then 3 years of clinical development in Geelong Hospital.

In 1999 Joshua joined Steve Bartram at Bellarine Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic, then in November 2000 Joshua took the opportunity to take over as practice director.

Joshua specialises in treatment of spinal and musculoskeletal pain, back pain and sports injuries.

He is committed to educating and motivating clients to reach their full physical potential.

MICHAEL JOHNSTON
Physiotherapist
Michael graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 1995.

He worked intitially at Brighton Rehabilitation Centre before moving on to London where he worked in a major teaching hospital and in private practice.

Michael places special emphasis on treatment of spinal and musculoskeletal pain using balanced scientific and holistic approaches.
