Massage Matters

Cupping:

Many of you have already experienced the benefits of cupping and I have found it a very useful technique particularly on very tight backs and shoulders. It is also very effective on the soles of the feet, especially for people who are standing all day. My experience in regards to the cupping marks is that the darker the colour the more good they are doing. In fact on a number of occasions I have found that an area which reacted quite strongly at first was far less reactive at the next session and the area was far less tender to touch.

Sport Massage:

For those of you who are concentrating on your sporting interests, massage can play a very important role both as a preventative and a recovery strategy. A typical example would be where the risk of Achilles tendon problems can be reduced by ensuring the calf muscles are nicely relaxed and free of knots. Hard training will tend to build up tender spots in the muscles which massage can help to reduce so that you can get back to training in a shorter time span.

Posture:

Already I have noticed that much of the pain which many of us feel in the neck and shoulders region is as a result of the activities we do in our daily working and recreational lives. Massage can certainly help to ease much of the tensions in these areas and combined with a tailored exercise program such as pilates can result in very positive outcomes.
